JoyForge64 is a desktop application that makes joystick mapping easier for The C64 Mini and The C64 Maxi. The application is written in C#, leveraging a modern cross-platform desktop stack.
These systems use .cjm configuration files to set controller behavior. The issue is clear: the format must be precise, slot order needs to be followed, and mismatches in joystick ports (J1/J2) can easily disrupt gameplay. Editing these files by hand is often riddled with errors and can be frustrating. JoyForge64 eliminates these problems.
Users pick a game, set up mappings visually, and create a clean, hardware-compatible .cjm file in seconds. The application also checks for consistent port names and can fix mismatches automatically before saving. No text editing, no guessing on syntax, and no broken configurations.

The activation system runs on a streamlined PHP backend. It manages account validation, seat allocation, device registration, secure lease tokens, and Stripe-based payments. The communication layer remains minimal by design, focused solely on licensing and authorization — nothing more. The goal is simple: secure, controlled access without unnecessary complexity.
The application can be run offline and online.
JoyForge64 is not a subscription service, and it’s not a 30€ product either. Access is based on a 2€ per device contribution. This choice is intentional. 2€ is less than a coffee, but it helps ensure the tool remains maintained, improved, and reliable. This simple seat-based model keeps JoyForge64 accessible while allowing the project to grow responsibly.
